EXPERIENCE

Child Immunization Chart Reviewer April 2005 – Current
CASA Reviews with Hubert A. Allen and Associates
Chart reviews of childhood immunizations and evaluating if children are up to date by 24 months in government recommended immunization programs using CDC software. Visiting clinics, entering data and reporting back coverage rates to the practice and the state, these include Indian Health Service as well as private practices.

Respiratory Therapist Presbyterian Hospital 1990 – Current
Care giver at the flagship hospital in New Mexico with current BLS and ACLS certification. Departments include: Cardiac Critical Care, Adult Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Recovery Room as well as floor therapies. Duties include: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Assisting physicians with Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy including delivery of conscious sedation agents, monitoring and assessment of the patients level of consciousness, monitoring cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. Maintain and monitor chest tubes. Initiate, implement and coordinate CVICU protocol of post operative patients. Perform advanced airway care including tracheostomy changes and extubations. Giving nebulizer treatments, performing chest physiotherapy, assessing appropriateness of treatments, interacting with doctors and other staff members for the benefit of the patient as well as teaching patient self care. Preceptor/mentor new employees.

Project Evaluation Assistant May-June 2004
American Red Cross and Kazakhstan Red Crescent in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan
Assisted with all aspects in project evaluation of “The Efficiency of Incentives in the Continuation Phase of Tuberculosis DOTS Treatment” project including revision and streamlining of reporting forms, mid-project analysis of data, training of local staff in data summary and analysis. Creating a final report with recommendations.

Volunteer Health Worker.
I have participated in several community health fairs targeted at children including; weighing, immunizations and patient education. I have also been active in adult education of blood pressure, diabetes and COPD management.

Research Area of Interest and Skills

Gender issues; equality of access, care, compliance and barriers as they relate to respiratory illnesses is of particular interest to me at both a local and international health levels. Compliance-understanding why patients do and do not comply with treatments and follow-up recommendations.

My skills include manual data organization, coding, data entry and cleaning in preparation for data analysis.
